Early this year I submitted two digital art pieces to Helm Gallery (both display above). They had launched a call out for new artists to submit work. Any artist could submit artwork from any background. The artists could submit as many pieces as they wanted. The only requirements was that each piece must measure a maximum of 100 x 100 cm and be ready to hang and arrive at the gallery in May (if chosen). Submission date for this was near the end of April. I submitted two pieces which were both A3 landscapes and crossed my fingers as it had be a long been a dream of mine to have my art displayed in a gallery. Of course that dream came true!
I titled them 'Unity for all". The black and white piece was chosen which is displayed here above. The day I read the email that , I was overjoyed, speechless and wanted to throw a big party to celebrate! I had the chosen piece printed on a stretch A3 canvas ready for them to hang in the gallery.
I attended the opening night and was delighted to see my art piece on display. I was on a natural high from this for quite a while and probably still am.
Attended a special closing party held to mark the end of Unity. This was a very enjoyable night with a tinge of sadness as the next day was the last day for my piece to be exhibited. This party included a special dance performance by Ceyda Tanc Dance. Their show was magical and breath taking to watch and the dancers portrayed Unity in their performance as there were always two or more of them dancing at a time.
The Helm Gallery is my favourite gallery in Brighton and I am very proud to have had my art displayed there.
Versions of both will be available to purchase soon.
